New Service Quality Regulations May Have Unintended Consequences
Dear Commissioners:
The Board of Directors of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce is very concerned about broadband access for our members, but also for underserved communities throughout California.
We understand the CPUC is considering new standards related to service quality. We are very concerned that the imposition of new standards, though well-intentioned, may impact broadband expansion efforts in areas with less connectivity or no broadband access at all. We also worry this new standard will increase costs to consumers and small businesses. and write in strong opposition to imposing new metrics.
While we support the Commission's commitment to achieving broadband for all, new standards could push this goal further out of reach for many Californians.
Broadband is more affordable and accessible in our community. We are concerned that new service quality metrics would disrupt this progress and possibly impede further expansion into our underserved communities.
The Board of Directors of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce respectfully urges the Commission to reject new service quality metrics and, instead, help remove barriers and unlock funding that accelerates broadband deployment.
Thank you for your attention to this matter
